Required Related Experience

A minimum of 2 years of clinical administration experience with direct oversight of providers, clinical care services, and/or quality improvement initiatives.

Demonstrated ability in patient care and clinical administration.

Required License/Registration/Certification

American Board Eligible or Board certified in Family Medicine or combined Medicine/Pediatrics.

Able to obtain and hold an unrestricted license to practice medicine in the state of Kentucky.

Job Summary

Reporting directly to the Department Chair, the Medical Director in Family and Community Medicine will be responsible for providing leadership and service in the development, as well as implementation, and monitoring of systems and protocols to ensure quality, safety and efficiency of ambulatory care at our main Family Medicine Center in Lexington.

The Medical Director will also ensure that goals and priorities of the University and the UK Medical Center are maintained and in alignment. Providers in this clinic include 20 faculty physicians, 20 resident physicians, two Sports Medicine fellows, eight Advanced Practice Providers and two Occupational Health/ Travel Health physicians. This Family Medicine Center had approximately 50,000 patient visits last year, and we are recognized by the NCQA as a Level III Patient-Centered Medical Home.

This position includes direct patient care and teaching responsibilities in the clinic and in our two university hospitals. Related didactic teaching and participation in scholarly work are also expected and supported. This individual will serve on applicable Departmental, College of Medicine, and/or Medical Center committees as negotiated with the department chair.
