Job Summary

Transportation Ambassadors will assist the Transportation Services department with outreach, education, and data collection, along with other duties as assigned.
Under general supervision:
• Communicate safe riding techniques and traffic laws to cyclists
• Promote pedestrian safety and walking as a mode of transportation
• Organize and lead bike rides and other campus events
• Find ways to engage with the campus community on transportation topics
• Teach the UK community how to ride Lextran and UK buses
• Encourage all active and sustainable modes of transportation
• Provide personalized commute planning assistance to UK students and employees
• Participate in the annual campus bicycle count
• Help plan and lead bicycle outreach activities such as Pedalpalooza and Bike Week
• Help out at the Wildcat Wheels Bicycle Library if needed
• Teach motorists how to share the road safely
• Promote alternative transportation programs such as BluPass, Cash Out, Bike Voucher, Zipcar, and Big Blue Cycles
• Assist with tabling at outreach events such as see blue. U
• Help with the roll out of new programs, such as a campus commute club, car sharing, etc.
• Be a resource on campus for information about transportation policies
• Conduct door-to-door canvassing to encourage alternative transportation for students and employees who live nearby
• Conduct occupancy counts at various parking areas
• Participate in annual parking lot space counts
• Direct motorists to overflow parking during peak periods of the semester
• Direct cyclists to available and authorized bicycle parking
