Physical Requirements

This position requires occasional lifting, pushing or pulling of objects up to 50 pounds. Occasional loading/unloading of materials for conferences.

Shift

Primarily Monday through Friday, some weekends and evening activities may be required as needed.

Job Summary

Family & Consumer Sciences Extension is seeking an Extension Specialist to provide nutrition education and food systems technical assistance. Specific responsibilities include: develop, manage and lead policy, systems and environment (PSE) approaches and education interventions to facilitate community food equity. Plan, implement and evaluate PSE strategies and educational materials to address needs. Promote an understanding of how food systems influence public health and economic viability. Communicate, coordinate and integrate Extension food access and related PSE and education interventions with those of other government, community and university programs. Educate public about strengthening community food systems to improve dietary behavior and health outcomes.

This position is one of a team of Family and Consumer Sciences Extension Specialists who support county educators in improving the quality of individual and family life through extension, research and outreach.

This position is dependent on funding renewed annually.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

Experience translating research and applying the evidence base to curriculum and program development aimed at behavior change, experience working with logic models and PSE approaches, and working with or serving limited resource audiences.

Preferred Education/Experience

Master’s Degree in food systems or closely related field.

Driver’s License preferred
