Required Education

Must be enrolled full-time at UK for the Fall 2017 semester and in good academic standing. This status must be maintained for the duration of employment with ITS.

Required Related Experience

Experience in media production or post production. Previous customer service experience

Required License/Registration/Certification


Physical Requirements

Must be able to stand for long periods. Must be able to sit at a computer work station for extended periods of time with regular repetitive motions (such as typing)
Must be able to lift are carry 10 pounds.


Shifts will be scheduled for weekdays between 8 AM – 5 PM. Occasional early evenings may be required.
Shifts must be a minimum of 2 hours long each and can be scheduled around classes.

Job Summary

The media assistant will provide media creation support and training for instructors in person in the Faculty Media Depot and UK with production of a variety of audio, video, and multimedia projects.
Project-related job duties may include planning, storyboarding, recording, editing, captioning, exporting, and/or publishing audio, video, or other multimedia content. Software tools will include Adobe Premier, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe After Effects, Camtasia and Adobe Captivate. Hardware will include microphones, video cameras, green screen, lighting and other hardware needed for video creation.
Support includes advising faculty on appropriate tools, providing in-person assistance, writing and publishing instructional documentation, and/or helping distribute content through multiple platforms, such as Canvas and YouTube.
Media Assistants may also be asked to complete light office work and assist with workshops, resource fairs, and other outreach or public events.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

*Mid to high-level expertise with Adobe Premier, or equivalent video editing software
*Experience with audio and video recording and editing, including use of cameras, microphones, and lighting equipment.
*Experience with live production techniques
*Experience with storyboarding and production planning
*Understanding of common multimedia formats and export options
*Familiarity with online media distribution sites, such as YouTube or Vimeo
*Proficiency with Adobe Photoshop
*Competency with both Macintosh and Windows operating systems
*Customer service skills
*Ability to communicate effectively in written and spoken English
*Ability to work both collaboratively and independently”

Preferred Education/Experience

Preferred candidates will have some or all of the following:
Experience with Adobe Premier, After Effects, Photoshop, camera operation, audio recording, customer service, and technology training.
