Required Education

Ph.D. in chemical/mechanical/other engineering disciplines, materials science, pharmaceutics, polymer science, physics, mathematics, or chemistry.

Required Related Experience

Preferred but not mandatory: An understanding of extended release formulations and pediatric formulations, multi-variate analysis, understanding of oral absorption, PK simulation. Computational experience is preferred but not required (CFD, FEA, other).

Job Summary

The Marsac Laboratory at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, KY is seeking a candidate with experience in extended release formulation development. The work will include the use of novel dissolution approaches and development of associated models to appropriately discriminate between formulations of interest. The formulations will be developed by the candidate in collaboration with Professor Marsac. Experience in solid state sciences / materials science is preferred but applications should also be able to develop HPLC methods and will have the opportunity to utilize several detection approaches such as UV, RI, and CAD. High resolution imaging approaches will be leveraged to characterize novel formulations and link processing and formulation to product performance. As such, select product performance measures will also be developed and may include the use of select dissolution and flux measurements as a precursor to understanding performance in vivo. The candidate may also be involved in developing models aimed at understanding mass transport in the gastrointestinal tract.
