Job Summary

STEPS is currently seeking Medical Assistants. Duties may include:

*Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations, keeping the rooms neat and clean.

*Interview patients to obtain and record medical information and measure their vital signs: weight, height, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration.

*Chart service or care given manually and electronically.

*Room patients and prepare them for the physician.

*Prepare and administer medications and vaccines as directed by a physician.

*Assist physician in exams and procedures.

*Collect blood, tissue, or other laboratory specimens, log the specimens, and prepare them for testing.

*Explain treatment procedures, medications, diet, or physician’s instructions to patients

*Clean and sterilize instruments and dispose of contaminated supplies.

*Perform routine laboratory tests and sample analyses.

STEPS Temporary Employment is a service of UK Human Resources that meets the University’s need for temporary employees in departments of UK Healthcare and UK Campus. We staff a variety of jobs including administrative, technical, service, maintenance, skilled trades, laboratory, and office/clerical. Temporary assignments can vary in length for one day to six months, and occasionally up to a year or more.
