Job Summary

The Department of Biology at the University of Kentucky (Lexington, Kentucky) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor in Stem Cell and Regenerative Biology to begin Fall 2018. We seek a colleague whose research explores fundamental aspects of the molecular and cellular control of tissue regeneration and stem cell behavior, and we encourage candidates working in any organismal or cellular system to apply. The ideal candidate will complement existing faculty strengths in regenerative biology, cell and developmental biology, genetics, genomics, and evolutionary biology. We anticipate making an appointment at the level of Assistant Professor; however, exceptionally qualified candidates at the Associate or Full Professor level will also be considered, particularly researchers who can fulfill a leadership role aimed at continued growth in this area.

With more than 500 life sciences faculty on one contiguous campus, there are excellent opportunities for scientific interaction and collaboration with programs in the Colleges of Medicine, Pharmacy, Engineering, Agriculture, and Arts & Sciences, the Markey Cancer Center, the Sanders-Brown Center on Aging, and the Center for Clinical and Translational Science, among others. Competitive start-up funds and renovated laboratory space will be provided.

Candidates must have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree and postdoctoral experience (minimum of six months) demonstrating excellence in their field. Candidates will be expected to establish a vigorous and innovative extramurally funded research program, and to contribute to the department’s teaching activities at both the graduate and undergraduate levels.

Applicants must submit the following: 1) letter of application, 2) CV, 3) research plan (upload under Specific Request 1), and 4) description of teaching interests (upload under Specific Request 2). Also provide the names and contact information for three references when prompted in the academic profile. This information will be utilized to solicit recommendation letters from your references within the employment system.
