Required Education

A successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related field, with a strong background in fluid mechanics and combustion theory.

Required Related Experience

A record of publications in combustion theory and fluid mechanics; experience in numerical simulations.

Sitting for long periods of time, and pushing or pulling of objects up to 25 lbs.


Monday – Friday 8:00am – 5:00pm (40 hours/week) with other hours as needed

Job Summary

The Research Group of José Graña-Otero at the University of Kentucky seeks candidates for a postdoctoral position in combustion theory. The goal of the project is to explore the feasibility of a novel approach to the surface chemistry of carbon oxidation. The project involves both theoretical analyses and numerical simulations of the Navier-Stokes equations coupled with Monte Carlo methods for the surface chemistry.

The start date for the position is January 1, 2018. The position is funded initially for 4 months, with possible extensions.
