Outstanding individuals using medicinal chemistry, broadly defined, for drug discovery and development in any target area are welcome to apply.

The College of Pharmacy, under the leadership of Dean R. Kip Guy, is transforming and expanding its research enterprise to strengthen and complement our existing focus areas. These include natural product chemistry for the development of therapeutic agents for the prevention and treatment of cancer, infectious disease, substance use disorders, and inflammatory diseases. Candidates with interests in any of these or closely related areas are especially encouraged to apply.

All candidates must possess a Ph.D. or other advanced degree(s) in chemistry or related discipline and a strong record of scholarship and research productivity. Selected candidates will be expected to develop/maintain an extramurally-supported research program, engage in graduate training in Clinical Experimental Therapeutics and/or Pharmaceutical Sciences, and contribute to the professional education of our Pharm.D. program.

The Department resides in a newly constructed 286,000 sq. ft. building located at the center of the combined medical and academic campus and encourages close interactions with other departments and centers at the University of Kentucky, including nationally recognized centers of excellence in neuroscience, cancer (NCI-designated Markey Cancer Center), cardiovascular, infectious disease, and clinical/translational research. In addition, the College houses the Centers for Pharmaceutical Research and Innovation, Molecular Modeling and Biopharmaceuticals, and Pharmaceutical Development.
